Colorado's Governor is joining in the hate campaign against shock rocker Marilyn Manson by supporting the religious group who want to ban him from the Denver leg of the Ozzfest festival.
An American website has reported that Governor Bill Owens and congressman Tom Tancredo are taking sides with the Citizens for Peace and Respect in discouraging music fans from attending the gig on June 21st at Denver's Mile High Stadium.
Owens and Tancredo have not elaborated personally on their support but the group's director Jason Janz has said: "The governor and congressman support our efforts and objectives which are clearly specified as asking [Manson] not to come, discouraging concert attendance, uniting people for positive impact on our state, and raising awareness of who Manson is and what he stands for."
Janz and co think that Manson promotes "hate, violence, death, suicide, drug use and the attitudes and actions of the Columbine High School killers." It's more than two years since the murders by teenagers Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris in Littleton and the Dark Lord's music is still being accused of inciting the tragedy.
Earlier this month Marilyn Manson retorted with a statement that promised to "balance songs with a wholesome Bible reading, [so that] fans will not only hear so-called 'violent' point of view, but also examine the virtues of wonderful 'Christian' stories of disease, murder, adultery, suicide and child sacrifice."
Meanwhile, The Lord of Fuck has contributed to a reworking of Eminem's track 'The Way I Am', with the controversial rapper himself. It's a rock version of the song from 'The Marshall Mathers LP', and they recorded it earlier this year.
Record company Interscope have said that no release date has been scheduled for the duet as yet. 'The Way I Am' mentions Manson as a scapegoat for society's problems.
