THE MAN
Champion trainer Malcolm Thwaites has had a long and extensive career in the racing industry. Malcolm has been involved in racing for over 45 years. He has won the Singapore / Malaysia trainers premiership Five out of the last eight years and has trained over 800 winners including over 100 feature race wins.
Malcolm began his career as an amateur jockey until 1966. He then became handicapper for the Singapore / Malaysia circuit for seven years. Malcolm ventured overseas to start training and successfully trained in Europe and Ireland as well as in America and Canada. He returned to Malaysia in 1986 and moved to Singapore in 1999 upon completion of the new turf club.

Malcolm has won every major classic race in Singapore and Malaysia including his outstanding triumph in the inaugural running of the  S$ 3,000,000 S.I.A. International Cup over 2000m. This was Singapores first international race, where OUZO defeated some of the world's best racehorses, including Jim And Tonic who was successful in last years Hong Kong International Cup and who was recently successful on World Cup day in Dubai. Two of Malcolm's best horses have won over S$2,000,000 in prizemoney.OUZO who has had 15 wins out of 22 starts and earned over S$4,500,00 and FISCHER who won 14 out of his 23 starts and S$2,300,000 before his retirement and he was also horse of the year. These two horses are testament to Malcolm's ability to keep horses sound.

Malcolm's other big wins include five Singapore Gold Cups Singapore's Premier race,six Singapore Derbies, the Queen Elizabeth Cup four times, the Lion City Cup, Singapore's Premier sprint race twice, as well as every other of the fifteen classic races on the racing circuit.

Malcolm is a world class trainer and is not frightened to take on international competitors whether it be at home in Singapore or overseas. He has had runners in Hong Kong , Dubai and in Australia, including the Melbourne Cup. He almost pulled off a major coup with Peak Of Perfection in the 1998 Sandown Cup being narrowly defeated.

Malcolm is now set to become the regions premier trainer.
