October 17, 2001 MPTG Monthly Meeting
1. Dr. Olson handed out copies of the school improvement plan and the SALT
team protocol. She expressed her fervent desire that parents attend the parent
meeting with the SALT team on Wed. Oct. 24 at 7 p.m.
2. Introductions.
3. September minutes approved.
4. Treasurer's report.
5. Playground report
- Mr. Ryan has been updated on status of work completed, needed to be done
- Town administrator toured playground, may be able to contribute
financially to complete playground in spring
- Discussion of playground equipment restrictions, Dr. Olson was asked to
send a letter of explanation home to parents.
6. Wrapping Paper (Sally Foster) fundraiser report
- Profits exceeded expectations - over $5,600 raised for Melville!
- Entertainment books will be offered as a courtesy to Melville community.
7. The MPTG thanks Donna Comber for her contribution to the playground fund in
memory of former Melville teacher Donna Greene.
8.Thank you to MPTG were shared from
- Donna Powell and Sue Roklan, the entire Melville staff for goodies sent
from MPTG
- Lori Harper for her going away gift.
9. Principal's Update
- Mrs. Jennifer Mutch is the new clerk.
- Oct. 30 – storyteller Len Cabral
- Nov. 1 – SALT report read to faculty only
- Nov. 1 – Conference night
- Nov. 14 – report cards grades 2-4
- Nov. 20 – Thanksgiving Feast grades Pre1 – 2
- Parent volunteers are needed for the Arts in Education committee for
Melville School. The committee meets once a month on Thursday, 11:30 –
12:30.
10. Holiday Workshop is Dec. 7
11. VIS (Volunteers in Schools)
- Reminder: To volunteer in the school, you MUST fill out at VIS form.
- Ms. Adler is requesting volunteers to help her in the art room.
12. Book Fair
- Set-up is Nov. 7,viewing day is Nov. 9, buying days are Nov. 13-15.
- The Fair will be in room 3, hours will run in the day and evening.
13. The idea of a school store was revisited. A motion was passed to pilot a
store with an
initial $100. Gina Delahanty will
organize the effort.
14. Refreshments for MPTG meetings will be done on a rotating schedule.
