Melville Parent Teacher Group Minutes for Nov. 29, 2001
Introductions
October minutes accepted.
Treasurer's report
- Pumpkin Festival profits exceeded projections by a small margin.
- Sally Foster fundraiser exceeded expectations.
- Budget in good shape. Discussions followed regarding budget priorities once playground is finished this spring. A meeting dedicated to this discussion will be held Jan. 9, 2002.
4. Fall Festival wrap-up potluck dinner Jan. 16, 2002, 6:30 at Melville. Spouses invited.
5. Book Fair
- Financially successful.
- The fair worked well in room 3.
- Wonderful chairpersons and volunteers helped make the fair successful.
- Same week reserved for next year. Evening hours may be cut back to two nights next year.
6. School Spirit Store items are in. Mrs. Blakely will work with 4th graders two times a week at lunch,
hoping to begin the end of December.
7. Volunteers are needed for Sat. Dec. 1 to plant donated trees on the school grounds. Pam Quinn
arranged the donations.
8. Principal's Update
- SALT report status explained.
9. Playground
- Melville has submitted a United Way grant this year. The grant application has been moved into the final round of consideration.
- The playground is close to being finished, two years ahead of schedule.
- There was a discussion about how to celebrate the playground's completion and recognize the key leaders of the effort.
10. Holiday workshop Friday, Dec. 7, 6-8 p.m.
12. First movie night Jan. 11.
13. Lisa Lafleur, presiding for Mick Perras, passionately urged MPTG members to consider the open
position for MPTG president.
14. Next meeting Jan. 30, 7 p.m.
