Melville Parent Teacher Group September 12, 2002

• Co-Pres. Lisa Lafleur reviewed the goals of MPTG, introductions followed.

• Jay Melillo, treas., asked for a co-treas. Jay reviewed the final financial report for 2001-02 and presented the Sept. report.

• Jim Bauer, MPTG VP and playground comm. chair reviewed the history of the project. The goals for this year are to get the soccer field seeded this fall so that it will be ready for spring. The walkways need to be done. Mary Harper explained the Brick Project started last spring. She has dropped off the orders taken so far. How bricks will be utilized it to be determined.

Fall Festival discussion

• This is the biggest fundraiser of the year. Volunteers were recruited to fill chairperson positions.

PRIDE info

• John Wojichowski explained the purpose of this group is to form a town wide organization to make sure schools are properly funded. Currently the group is evaluating candidates for public office. It has endorsed the PHS gym project. John asked the MPTG to sponsor an information night for Melville parents to learn about PRIDE. The MPTG agreed.

• Mary Harper has organized the festivity. Parents are invited to visit classrooms as well.

• Jamie Landsman, coordinator. Jamie is looking for volunteers for the Thanksgiving Feast and Book Fair. All volunteers must fill out a volunteer form.

• Emily Copeland worked on the garden. The Pember family kindly donated many new plants. They offered a consultation for trees

Terry Kavanaugh introduced himself as a Melville parent and a candidate for school board.
