April 25, 2001 Melville Parent Teacher Group Monthly meeting
- Introductions
- Playground – J. Bauer
- The Playground Committee attended a United Way/Citizen's Bank reception for grant recipients. Melville was I of 7 recipients.
- Committee is requesting a donation from the Newport Officers' Spouses Club for picnic table and benches for the playground.
- National Guard will return in Aug.
- ARGC Corp. (Melville Housing contractors) is offering to sell fill for $3 cubic yard to fill soccer area. There is no funding at the moment.
- Kindergarten equipment goes up this weekend.
- Fibar ready for delivery.
- Dimeo will pave b-ball court when they return to finish work on addition area.
- School System Budget – Tim Ryan
- Mr. Ryan explained the budget process. He stated that the Town Council has cut almost $900,000 from the school budget. The School Committee will meet Mon. April 30 to work how to address this budget cut. The Town Budget meeting is May 23 at PMS, 7 p.m. Question and answer period followed.
