Rakim Allah.. The God Emcee.. Smooth delivery with multisyllable rhymes.. blueprinted many rhyme schemes.. flow was on-point.. revolutionized the art of emcee'n.. I first heard him on Paid in Full but not really until the 18th Letter.. So like always i did my research.. It's one to be a rapper but to be a multi-dimensional emcee is crazy.. His wit didn't allow him to be the best during his time.. I DITC'd and found Eric B. & Rakim which is regarded as the best hip-hop album of all time.. Rakim never changed for no one.. You know he was the illest to ever do it.. If you seen the last episode of Yo! MTV Raps and all of the rappers just paused when Rakim graced the mic.. The Microphone Fiend.. (Must Listen: My Melody) Nas.. Illmatic.. the street poet himself delivered a classic album that many regard as the best in Illmatic.. His style is so dope.. Like you listen to NY State of Mind then listen to Nas Is Like and your like wow this dude is serious.. I'm happy for Jay bringing him back because he wouldn't of delivered a stillmatic, god's son or streets disciple.. He's always paid homage to those before him and he's definitely a reflection of an 80's emcee for the kids listening to music from 95 to present.. (Must Listen: Nas Is Like) Scarface... The King of the South.. Very gritty rapper.. His style is unique.. Lyricism overshadowed the way the South is known for rapping.. Been in the game for awhile.. The Last of a Dying Breed was sick.. The Fix was dope.. And his delivery was sound.. (Must Listen: Diary of a Mad Man) Big Daddy Kane.. Smooth Operator.. I would put him up against just about anyone when it comes to battling.. Warm it Up Kane was ill.. All his verses on collabs like Symphony, 3 to the Dome, and so were dope.. His delivery was smooth.. Lyrically nice.. Flow was dope.. (Must Listen: Warm it Up Kane) Busta Rhymes... Wild Style.. Something about his is unique.. Either his earlier flow or content.. People still recite his verses from Scenario remix.. Has been consistent.. Many albums.. Never really had that appeal to the masses like Jay.. NY ish is my favorite song out.. (Must Listen: Case of the PTA) Melle Mel... Originator.. The verse on the Message started a revolution.. The party songs were there but he brought the inner city life to the masses.. As apart of The Furious Five he has spit on many other songs... I know his choice of wear was unique.. hahaha (Must Listen: The Message) Kool G Rap... Kool Godfather of Rap.. His flow is timeless and is still spitting heat.. The flow that birthed the unique flow of Big Pun.. Introduced a different style and more gangster content before NWA and the West.. Road to the Riches is a classic.. 4,5,6 was ill.. The Juice Crew was one of my favs.. (Must Listen: Road to the Riches) Redman... The Funk Doctah.. Time 4 Aksion(sp) was ill.. I think i heard that on a Funk Flex Mixtape.. His whole style is unique.. Lyrically clever but many commercial would overshadow that thought.. He's been around for awhile.. I like that he was different and represents New Jersey very well.. (Must Listen: Time 4 Sum Aksion) Canibus.. Hip Hop's Einstein.. First heard him on mixtapes.. Has many classic lines like many others.. His style is unique.. Using science and history in lyrics.. Multi's.. Flow was never that good.. But worked well with the words he used.. Beast From The East verse was dope.. Battling skills were good.. Has very poor beat selection now but songs like 2nd Round KO, Get Retarded, 2000 B.C and others were good.. (Must Listen: Buckingham Palace) Big Pun.. The Rican Emcee.. Took the spotlight right from Fat Joe.. On collabs like John Blaze, Banned From TV and Fantastic Four I Pun killed his verse.. One of the best flows i have ever heard.. Was so quick but understandable.. Multi's were crazy.. It sad that we lost him but he will always be remembered for "backing the mac in the back of the ac" or "spitting ittly dittly in Italy"(something like that LOL) (Must Listen: Twinz('98 Deep Cover) ) Guru.. Master Yoda.. Laid back style.. Always kept it real.. Many people wouldn't even mention him.. But as an emcee he has done his thing.. His voice makes his delivery smooth.. Has spit heat over many Premo classics like You Know My Steez.. Probably the only group that still has a DJ and an emcee.. That was heavy in the 80's like Eric B and Rakim, Polo and G Rap and so on.. Very underrated if you ask me.. (Must Listen: Mass Appeal) Big L.. Don Corleone..
