About Me
My name is Melissa Postorino.  I am a fifth grade math and science teacher at the Mohawk Avenue School in Sparta, New Jersey.  I grew up in West Milford New Jersey, then went on to Fairleigh Dickinson University to complete undergraduate and Master of Arts in Teaching degrees.  After doing so, I felt the need to expand my knowledge in teaching technology.  I have always had an interest in the area, from the time I took Saturday classes with my dad to larn logo, until now as I am completing my Master of Arts in Educational Technology.  I try to implement technology into my teachings whenever it is appropriate not only to motivate my students, but to also prepare them for a technological society.

I also like to explore new facets in the teaching profession besides technology.  I have a heavy interest in the arts, particularly musical theater.  In order to pass this interest on to young people, I am a color guard instructor for various high schools.  I have also assisted in high school musical theater productions over the years.

I live in Randolph, New Jersey with my husband and our dog, Sandy.  My husband is a high school english teacher who is also pursuing a degree in Educational Leadership.  We have been married for just about one year.  We both love going to the beach, skiing, traveling, and watching a Yankee game from time to time.  Our next big trip will be to Italy this summer, where we will tour Rome, Venice, and Florence.
