I was just in the "Eagle" pose for my Yoga, when an huge eagle of some type landed right on the avocado tree in my front yard. Wonder if I looked like someone she knew. My gecko is gone. Mr. L's idea to put the speaker in an uncomfortable spot worked. I put it in the blazing morning sun on the balcony (vs. the freezer - was afraid popsickled gecko would have gotten stuck), and the gecko vacated. Mom suggested getting a cat. But then the question is, once the gecko's gone, how do you get rid of the cat? The Embassy sent out an email message for Americans to keep a low profile here in Uganda because of expected retaliation for the bombing (in general, not specifically here). I was in the grocery store and noticed a couple - the man, who was huge, was pushing one shopping cart in front and one behind, packed full of food. The woman was holding a blond squirming kid, and looked uncomfortable to be out and about. I watched as the man grabbed three loaved of white bread and added them to the cart in front. My suspicions were confirmed by the "Texas" baseball cap he was wearing. So much for keeping a low profile. Maybe the US government should give their American citizens abroad a course in grocery shopping incognito. Last Wednesday evening was the Reunification Day celebration at the German Embassy. Sure enjoyed the weisswurst mit senf and German white wine. The German ambassador is known to be a party animal, and he hosted a nice one at his home. Saturday spent almost all day at a trade show here in Kampala with friends Filiz and Gisella. Sunday tried out the BBQ for the first time - had some colleagues of Askan's over. That's, I guess, how you keep busy without being busy. |
