The rest of the rounds will follow the same format as this round 2. The first round is the only difference.

2.5       The draft will start in July every year. Around the 4th of July, the commissioner will send out an email to let everyone know the draft will start at a certain date and time chosen by him. The draft will NOT start unless everyone is aware of it by replying to the email stating they are ready. If nothing is heard from the player after two weeks from the initial email, the league will assume that you have quit and recruit another coach in your spot. If you know you will be out in that month ahead of time, please let someone in league know, preferably the commissioner.

3.      Keeper Players

3.1       Keeper Players will be signed to teams using a contract system. It is up to each coach to decide which player on his team, get which contract. Contracts can be tricky, meaning if a player retires or goes to jail, his career ended short, etc. you will loose that contract and not get another one until that one is up. Choose wisely, because you will have to live with the player you sign, no matter how bad or inactive they may be. Depth is the key in this league. This format will allow you to build a great team, but will also make it possible for weaker teams to improve each year, because of the players coming off contracts.

3.2       If a player does retire or go to jail or die, you may drop that player and pick up another player to replace him. However if he comes back you must pick him up and drop the replacement player.  You will not be able to replace this player’s contract until it is over, example – you signed a player to a 3 year, his first year he is suspended or get injured, you may drop the player form the roster, but you may not be able to re sign someone to his contract meaning you are stuck with that player for the 3 years you signed him whether he plays or not.

4.         Contracts

4.1       Contracts will work like this. Each year there will be a specific number of contracts available for signing players. Also, each contract will be for a certain amount of years. At the end of each season, each team will have to sign keeper players to the contracts that they have available for that year. All contracts must be used. If you do not use one of your contracts, you will lose your draft choice the following year.  1 year contract = 1 round, 2 year contract = 2 rounds, 3 year and rookie contracts = 3 rounds.

4.2       Players under contract are un-droppable. I will enter all contracted players onto Yahoo's list of un-droppable players. Pay attention to this. All coaches have the responsibility to watch this. The last couple of years, coaches have admitted to dropping players they knew were on contract. If this occurs, you will forfeit a pick in the draft, meaning if you had the 3rd pick, you know drop to the 4th.

4.3       When a contract expires that player will go back into the draft pool for the next season. The only way a team may re-sign a player coming off contract is to use an anchor (see section 6), if available.

4.4       The deadline for signing players to contract will be two weeks after our season is over. The player to be signed must be on your current roster at the time of signing. Be aware that Yahoo will lock your ability to save or drop players after the last game of the season, so make sure you have to players on your roster that you wish to sign. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS or ADDITIONS to rosters after this deadline.

4.5       Unused contracts will result in a penalty in the upcoming years draft for each contract not used.  3 year and rookies contracts = 3 rounds lost, 2 year contracts = 2 rounds lost, and 1 year contract = 1 round lost. Bonus contracts earned at the end of the season are exempt from this penalty. You need not to use your bonus contracts unless you want them.

4.6       If a player under contract is traded, the contract will go with the player. When the contract expires it will go back to the original team. (See section 8 for more details on trading contracts)

4.7       Bonus contracts will be awarded to teams that make the playoffs. (See Contract chart, section 7) Bonus contracts do not have to be used. They cannot be carried over to the next season, and are not renewed when they expire.

5.      Rookie Contracts

5.1       Rookie contracts are contracts that are used to sign Rookie players. Rookie contracts may only be used to sign Rookie players. A Rookie is a player in his first year in the NFL whether drafted or un-drafted in the NFL draft.

6.      Anchors

6.1
Anchors are used to hold a player to contract when his original contract expires. In order to use an anchor, the owner must advise the league of his intentions at the end of the season, and use one of his available contracts to re-sign the player.

6.2       Anchors will be awarded to 3 or 4  teams at the end of each season in this order, 1 for the super-bowl champion, 1 for the team with the best regular season record, 1 for the team with the most points in the regular season, and consolation bracket winner if chosen (see.  A team will receive only 1 anchor per year. Anchors will be listed on your team page.

6.3       *** The winner of the consolation bracket will be awarded the #1 pick overall in the following years’ draft or an anchor, which ever they choose. If they choose an anchor they will stay in the normal draft order from worst to best, if they choose the 1st overall pick, then they will get pick # 1 in the first round, the following rounds they will fall in draft order.

6.4       Any new owners/managers joining the league will be automatically awarded an anchor if their new team does not own one when they take over.

8.      Trades:

8.1       A trade is an agreement between two teams to exchange players. Trades can occur all year except when the deadline set forth by Yahoo is reached. One this deadline comes, any trades agreed upon by both times must be sent to the commissioner and will not go in effect until the end of the season.

8.2       If there is a trade agreement between two teams after the deadline, the agreement cannot be pulled unless agreed to by BOTH teams.  For example, your trade Steve Smith for Peyton Manning after the deadline, it is put in writing and sent to the commissioner. Two weeks later, Manning gets hurt and looks like he will be out for a year, the trade cannot be nullified unless both trading teams agree the trade is to be voided. This also must be placed in writing and sent to the commissioner.

8.3       Trades can consist of players, bonus contracts, and anchors, draft choices for the following years or any combination of these. However, trades for anything other than other players will not be allowed or go in effect until the end of the year. These cannot be conducted during the season. Example, you have Peyton manning and want to trade him to someone for their #1 draft pick and an anchor. The other coach will not get Peyton until the end of the season, at which point you will receive the anchor and draft pick. Players can be traded for other player until the deadline set forth by Yahoo, anything after that will occur after season.

8.4       When you trade a contract player, you still have that contract. Meaning, you cannot pick up a new contract until that one runs out. Example lets use Terrell Owens and Steven Jackson. I have Terrell Owens signed to 2 years left on his contract, if this is 2005 then his contract expires 2007. You have Steven Jackson who is not on contract. I trade you Owens for Jackson. You now have Owens for the remaining contract, which means you can not drop him. However, I have a 2 year void contract on my roster now which means I cannot sign a player to that contract until it runs out. Meaning at the end of the year, say if we had to sign 2 3 year, 2 2 year, 2 1 year, and 2 rookie 3 year contracts, I would now lose one of those 2 year contracts. Now I can only sign 1 2 year contract that year. The loss of a contract occurs the year of the trade meaning at the end of the trading season, you would lose that particular contract. Also on the opposite side of that, the receiving player would also lose the same contract meaning he cannot pick up that same contract at the end of the year as well. Basically when you picked up Terrell Owens from me, it was like signing the contract there and therefore you forfeit that same contract at the end of the season. This rule is in effect to keep coaches from constantly trading valuable players or players that they sign to contract. There must be some sort of rule behind this to make life of contracts more realistically. If the real NFL did not have complications to contracts there would be players jumping all over the place but there is lots of money involved, something we do not have in this league so therefore this rule is in effect. Maybe one day we can re-invent this league to include salary caps.

9.       Conduct:

9.1       All coaches will hold the up most respect for each other. Trash talk is allowed and encouraged, however, when this talk or chat becomes offensive to anyone, you will be asked to halt. If you continue, your second warning will lose your first draft pick for the following year.  Your third and last warning will constitute a vote from other coaches whether to allow you to continue to play in the league.

10.     Waiting List for new players:

10.1     All coaches are encouraged to recruit new interested players/coaches every year. The commissioner will keep a “waiting list” for the next available spot. However, if at anytime, there are two new coaches on the waiting list and are willing to be competitive and play, there will be a vote to expand the league to 12 teams. If this was to occur, and the vote passed. The following year is when the new coaches will be assigned to the league. They will get the first two picks in the draft of each round making it fair for them to be competitive. The order in which they are chosen will depend on a coin flip. This will only be done their first year; however, the winner of the consolation bracket will still get the #1 pick in that year in the first round only. The following rounds beginning with round two will have the new coaches as 11th and 12th pick. Example of two new coaches added and the league expanding to 12 teams: Draft order – 1. Consolation bracket winner 2. new coach 3. new coach 4. 10th place team 5. 9th place team . etc. Round two will start 1st pick of round 2 – new coach, 2nd pick round 2 – new coach, 3 pick round 2 -  10th place team, 4th pick round 2 – 9th place team, etc, etc, etc.

11.     Termination from League:

11.1     Simple here. If you want to leave and not play anymore, have the respect to let the commissioner know. I feel it is rude. We try everything we can to not get one year dreamers in this league. If you know you are not going to like this league or feel any interest in this league, please do not join! DO NOT WASTE OUR TIME! We do not look for fillers here. If you do want to leave, please have the courtesy to let the commissioner know and do not wait until draft time to say you are not playing. This is a way never to get invited to any of our leagues again. Yes black balled! However, those of you who have played more than a year or two, we thank you for your time and you are always welcomed back. If for any reason, you cannot play for a year but can return, we will vote on a tactic to keep you alive in our system, if it comes down to the commissioner placing the best starters in your lineup every week per Yahoo rankings then so be it. We will do this every week for you for the season if you must have to skip a season, however, we will not add or remove anyone form your roster meaning if you do not have a full roster due to bye weeks, then so be it. No additions or deletions form roster will occur.

11.2     You must keep your email up to date. Please, please, please, if you know you have changed your email, please inform us of the change. If anything let the commissioner know the email if you do not want anyone else knowing. This keeps you informed of any happenings in our league. If you do not let us know of an email change, and for some reason we do not hear from you and our emails bounce back, we will assume you no longer exist in the league. Especially 60 days before the start of the season, you will be deleted from the league and a replacement will be sought. If several attempts to reach you have failed, including emails, phone calls, etc, we will exclude you from the league. If however, you contact us before the season; your name will be re-added to the stand-by list for consideration in the following year.

12.     Funds or Fees:

12.1     There are neither fees nor funds to play in this league. It is free. The purchase of stat tracker is your option. However, in the future if all teams agree to split the costs, we can always upgrade to the “plus”, which is $125 per league, as of 2008. This is not a requirement and will only be elected if ALL teams agree.

12.2     There may be times we will have to chip in at most $10 per team every now and then to purchase trophies. Any ideas are welcome to make this league ore exciting. For trophies however, there is only a $10 max limit set. We shall not ask any player for more than this amount. We should be able to get a decent trophy for this price, especially if expanded to 12 teams down the road, but with 10 teams at $10 will give us $100 for a nice trophy. Any remainder of the sums will be placed into an account and saved for future trophy purchases.

12.3     Any other ideas are welcome. Anything from trophies to T shirts, etc. There can be votes on items down the road if everyone is willing.
