The McDonnell Douglas DC-9 was designed to operate from short
runways on short to medium routes. It offered the speed, comfort
and reliability of jet transportation to smaller communities
previously served only by prop driven airliners. The aircraft
features built-in boarding stairs for use where jetways are not
available. Low ground clearance puts the lower cargo deck at
waist level to allow loading and unloading without a conveyor
or loading platform. The passenger cabin was designed for optimum
passenger comfort and convenience. Economy class seating is five
across, an arrangement consistently preferred by passengers over
the usual six across seating utilized in most single aisle
airliners. The Series 30 is the most widely used member of the
DC-9 family, accounting for approximately 60 percent of the entire
fleet. Although the last DC-9 was delivered in October of
1982, the McDonnell Douglas DC-9 remains the mainstay of many
airlines.

Republic Airline's roots began in 1946 when Clintonville, WI based
Wisconsin Central Airlines began operations. In 1952 Wisconsin Central
changed it's name to North Central Airlines and moved it's base of
operations to Minneapolis, MN. A merger with Atlanta based Southern
Airways in 1979 changed the airline's name to Republic Airlines. In
1980 Hughes Air West joined with Republic. At it's peak Republic
Airlines served 107 U.S. cities with a 168 aircraft fleet. Finally,
Republic Airlines was acquired by Northwest Airlines in October of
1986 making Northwest the fourth largest U.S. airline.

Originally flown by North Central Airlines and still sporting the
trademark "Herman the Goose" logo on it's tail, aircraft registration
N960N (fleet number 910) represents 1 of 53 McDonnell Douglas DC-9-31
aircraft operated by Republic Airlines. This aircraft served with
Republic's fleet from July of 1979 until the airline's acquisition by
Northwest Airlines in October of 1986. Republic also operated 11
McDonnell Douglas DC-9-32 and 1 DC-9-32F series aircraft. This
particular aircraft continues to operate today with Northwest
Airline's fleet.

Features:

* Both FS5 and FS98 versions included.
* Night	lighted passenger windows.
* Landing lights installed (FS98 version only). Use Ctrl+L to toggle
them on/off at night.
* Landing lights definition file included for FSFW95 use (LLADD
program required for installation).
* Optional FS color palette included to more accurately simulate
Republic's aqua color scheme (without the use of this palette
the aircraft will be light and dark blue).

Installation:

Unzip all files to a temporary directory. Then...

FS98:

1. Copy the Rcdc93v1 folder to your FS98 aircraft folder.

Note: The Flight Shop Aircraft and Adventure Converter for FS98 must
be installed. This aircraft looks best (IMHO) in FS98 in 3D full
screen mode with MIP mapping turned off.

FSFW95:

1. Unzip the fs5.zip file to a temporary folder.

2. Use the Microsoft Aircraft and Adventure Converter for FSFW95
to convert the files.

FS5:

1. Unzip the fs5.zip file to a temporary folder.

2. Copy the Rcdc93v1.air file to your FS5 Pilots folder.

3. Copy the texture files Rcdc93v1.0af thru Rcdc93v1.9af to your FS5
Textures folder.

FSFS LIMITS:

For this aircraft, we have modified the palette to give proper
coloration. The default FSFS palette is very limited and does not
include certain colors, such as pink and purple.

To install this palette:

1. Rename and backup your current FS5.PAL (located in your \fs__\
   texture directory)
2. Copy KT_PALET.PAL into your \fs__\texture directory
3. Rename KT_PALET.PAL to FS5.PAL (for ALL versions of FS, 5.0 and up.)
4. Rename and backup your current FS5.HAZ (located with FS5.PAL)
5. Copy KT_PALET.HAZ into your \fs__\texture directory
6. Rename KT_PALET.HAZ to FS5.HAZ

To uninstall this palette:
1. Rename FS5.PAL in your \fs__\texture directory to KT_PALET.PAL
2. Rename FS5.HAZ in your \fs__\texture directory to KT_PALET.HAZ
3. Copy your backed-up FS5.PAL & FS5.HAZ (you DID back them up,
didn't you?) to your \fs__\texture directory. Make sure they are
   named FS5.PAL and FS5.HAZ respectively.

There have been changes to default building colors as a result - an
example is in the FS98 Las Vegas scenery, where the terminal building
at McCarran becomes pink. Some of the office buildings at Chicago
reflect this too. The Microsoft Broadf.R8 texture (broad leaves in
fall) is also affected. These changes are a byproduct of the palette
change and cannot be overcome.

The pink/purple color sequence is copyrighted 1997 Kevin Trinkle. The
revised blue color scheme is copyrighted Carlos Coimbra, 1995.
KT_PALET.PAL may not be sold on any CD or disk. If you wish to use it
in your aircraft, please contact me at trinkle@flash.net.
