Gene & Mike Mike & Gene
was recorded in February and March of 1981. The album got its name because in the beginning there were only two copies of the original tape. Not realizing their enormous commercial potential the boys just wrote and recorded for their own amusement. So on Gene's copy, he wrote "Gene & Mike" while Moe wrote "Mike & Gene" on his copy. As you may have guessed, Moe sometimes goes by the name "Mike".

The furniture in Gene's living room was moved to the front porch and the recording studio was built. It was actually Gene's stereo system set up on a piano bench but it was state of the art (or rather, state of the budget). In keeping with that "state-of-the-budget" atmosphere, this CD is a direct copy of the vinyl edition of the album. Every click, pop, turntable rumble and distortion is faithfully reproduced on the CD.
