A small bit of Beamore House history. The current owners of the home are in possesion of the complete information but here is what I know. There was another Beamore House just North across the road from the current House. There is a marker in the field mentioning that. In 1707 Jane Conolly married Thomas Pearson and received Beamore house as a wedding gift. The Ball family had owned the house previous to this and sold it to the Conolly's. At that time it consisted of 500 acres. |
George and Mary Anne Hoey came into ownership of the current house approximately the turn of the century. After George and Mary Anne died it was left to George Vincent Hoey, the oldest son. George owned the house until at least 1918 when Peter Gannon's Will was written. It was mentioned in that will that George Vincent Hoey, Teresa Gannon and Kathleen Hoey resided there. George Vincent was not as responsible with money as his father and actually lost the house because of his debts. It was then that James Joseph (George Vincent's younger brother) who lived in Raholland House intervened and purchased the house for his son George. In the meantime the house was occupied by a caretaker. George Hoey moved into the house when he was seventeen and worked on remodeling it. George had lived in it until his recent death in 1994. George and Marie Hoey had one child named Georgina and she and her husband currently own and occupy the House. Marie lives in the mother-in-law apartment attached to Beamore house on the right side of the picture. The apartment used to the horse stable. |
