Valhalla
Pantheon: Norse Mythology

Valhalla ("Hall of the Slain") is one of Odin's the three halls. It is the most prominent hall in Asgard. This is the final resting place of the Einheriar, the warriors who died in battle and were chosen by the Valkyrie, Odin's warrior maidens (the rest go to Freya's hall Folkvang). The hall is located in the middle of the Glasir woods and was built in gigantic proportions. This vast hall had five-hundred forty doors, each door wide enough to allow 800 men to pass through at the same time (540 * 800 = 432,000 warriors). The rafters are made of spears, the hall is roofed with shields and breast-plates litter the benches. A wolf guards the western door and an eagle hovers over it.

Each morning the Einheriar would be woken by the cock Gullinkambi and feast. Then to prepare for the battle at Ragnarok, the Twilight of the Gods, they would battle all day. Each night before dinner, those that had been slain during the day would rise again then meet in Valhalla for a feast. They would feast with Odin, the meat being supplied from the magical boar Sahrimnir, which would regenerate itself every night.
