Eir ("mercy") is a minor goddess of healing and medicine. She knew the secret powers of herbs, with which she could even resurrect the dead. She taught the art of healing only to women, who, in ancient Scandinavia, were the only physicians. She is the goddess of mercy and depicted as sitting on her hill Lyfia ("to heal through magic"). She grants health to any woman who could climb up to her.

Eir is a companion of the goddess Frigg.
