Hammocking The art of hammock making.
Hey, wanna make a hammock??? The most comfortable things in the world! I use em all the time. When I go camping, or hiking, that's my bed for the weekend. I started off making cloth hammocks, like my brothers, cept his was professionally made and I couldn't find strong enough fabric for a cheap price. So I decided to take after my other brother and use his plans to make a rope hammock. The rope ones are more comfortable anyways... Now my belief is in them. If you want to make a hammock, then use these plans. I have faith in them. They come from my brothers, and then through me so I've made some changes. This is the way to go. Have fun.
Even my lil friend loves em! This is my most recently made hammock...
Hammock Making 101
A weaved hammock with poles, here is what I made: Materials: - 2 Rings, same, but diameter doesn't matter - 2 wooden rods, 1" diameter, 2 ft long - aprox. 300ft. rope, your choice of size, type, etc. I used 550-survival cord. twised cord is better then braided, twisted is softer, look out for kinky rope, harder to work with, 550 was kinky...DON'T FORGET TO FUSE (MELT) ENDS OF EACH STRAND OF CORDAGE Steps: I. ENDS 1. Wooden rods, drill 12 holes, 2" apart dia. 1-1 (1" each end, 2" in between)
