Countries:
Advantare and Magerune are two neighbouring countries, but they are seldom at peace. The leader of Advantare tries to prevent any possible war by means of law, which is sometimes not very successful as Advantareans loathe Magerunians so much as a barbaric country which uphold no law. Magerunians, on the other hand, don’t care about Advantare. They don’t care about Advantare as long as Advantare don’t try to take their freedom. But if attacked, Magerunians will surely retaliate. These two countries live side by side for centuries in tension and small dispute often happen at the border, although there hasn’t been any war which involved the whole country. There are also several other countries, but they lie very far across the harsh ocean that very little people come from across the sea and vice versa.
Advantare: Advantare usually consists of plains and savannah with dry season. A country very advanced in civilisation and knowledge. They are adept in machinery, but none is capable of magic. Magic is viewed as a primitive art which can only harm (they view white magic as rare, although it’s not), so primitive and barbaric that anyone learning magic should be banished. Law is well established in the country, and everything is in order. The Advantareans are strong as a nation, but their understood code of law and order prevent them from assaulting other countries; they view war as barbaric. The general view of Advantareans is that Magerunians is a doomed nation because of their void of order and their Animal Spirits, thus they need to be subdued and be taught how to follow order and behave, which is also a similar thinking adopted by Advantarea’s leaders, but they view it useless to attack a country whose whole people are adept at magic. Furthermore, Advantareans view blood feud as a sin. Advantare has reached its peak of glory several decades back, when its people were capable of creating weapons which might harness the power of magic (they feared any attack from Magerune back then, before they learned of Magerunians’ in-unity). However, the weapon also subdue the soul of the target, leaving them in soulless sleep to rot. Leaders of Advantare thought of this as being sinful, as it was actually a murder, thus they destroyed the weapon and forbade Advantareans from any act of weapon development. This is why although Advantare is very advanced in medical and scientific field, their weapon was limited to simple guns and simpler weapons such as sword or knife. Advantare is governed under a kingdom, with several elders functioning as ministers. The king (or queen) has to follow what the ministers say, to prevent tyrants. Its people commonly worship Kysianth, embracing the Way of Justice and uphold Order, although some who are charmed by the Way of Freedom and prefer to reject Order worship Eliyoniell.
Magerune: Magerune usually consists of lush forests with rainy season. A magical country where law is not written, but understood. Magic is common occurrence; they who weren’t born with magic can learn it. There is no machinery in Magerune, as machinery is viewed as contradictory to the Gift – which is magic. Almost everything in Magerune is sustainable by magic, which is also a disadvantage as it alienates people with poor magic capability. One man with a high level of magic is dangerous and strong enough to ambush a small village alone. This, of course, makes people wonder why Magerunians never assaulted another country, to try to dominate them. The answer is simple, because Magerunians do not have unity. A Magerunian prefer to walk his path alone, which can explain why there is rarely a big enough community in Magerune; none bother to be bound to a community. Magerunians also has no apparent leader, the wisest or the strongest will be looked upon as leaders, but merely for advice; Magerunians seldom take order from anyone. In the old days, there used to be several elders and nobles who led Magerunians, but as the generation change, their inheritor rebelled; they didn’t want to be bound to govern a country. With no one to inherit, Magerunians is void of authority. Some descendants of the nobles and elders who wish to create a government for Magerune still remain, but they are without man-power, thus their efforts is rendered useless. Still, they don’t give up in trying to create a government for Magerune. They are mostly educated well by the history, thus they understand the importance of unity for Magerune (most Magerunians view history as nonsense). Plus, the law in Magerune is never written, and everyone adopted and understood the unwritten laws in their own terms. Which is why dispute among Magerunians often happens, which weakened them to be actually able to unite. Magerunians commonly worship Eliyoniell, although some don’t even bother to worship any deity, but Magerunians rarely worship Kysianth; they despise binding law and value freedom over their life.
