| "RESPECT AND HONOR" Scripture: Romans 13:7 Give to everyone what you owe them: Pay your taxes and import duties, and give respect and honor to all to whom it is due. NLT Let's assume I am in a meeting where the Governor of Minnesota, Jessie Ventura is scheduled to speak. Let's also assume that I am a close personal friend of the governor and he requested that I be seated in a special location in the crowd, just in front of the podium. The crowd has filed in and we are all in immediate anticipation of the governor's arrival. I have the most desirable seat in the house. You could say Jessie Ventura has respected and honored me by putting me in the best location. Then an usher appears and announces that President George W. Bush is a last minute attendee. He will arrive just seconds before Governor Ventura speaks. It goes without saying that I would immediately vacate the most prestigious seat in the house and give it to President Bush. As Governor Ventura respected and honored me - I assigned that respect and honor by giving the most prestigious seat to President Bush. In that scenario I believe Governor Ventura respected and honored me and like wise I honored President Bush by giving him the most important seat. And so it is with our relationship with God. When we come to the Father in prayer we ought to give Him our best time during the day, our finest chair in the house and give Him the respect and honor of the most comfortable location. In the military it is called the chain of command. When military personnel are walking through a doorway the highest rank is always last. The lowest rank first. This is protocol to bestow respect and honor on the last person through the door. The Father deserves our maximum respect and honor when we come to Him in prayer. And that's our best time of the day, the finest chair and the most comfortable location in the house. Prayer: Father, to You alone be all praise, respect, glory and honor. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen! |
