Building Our House... Here are a few pictures of our project. Since we broke ground in February, I have been super busy, working nearly everyday on it. Hopefully I will find time to keep everyone updated through this page, like today, it is raining. Otherwise I am usually out there until I come home to drop in bed.

When this picture was taken, in late January, the weather had been great so far...here it was basically ready to dig the next week. But then we get an ice storm, then another one, then followed by over a week of highs temps in the teens (don't laugh you northerners!) which was to cold to dig. Well then by mid Febuary, it of course warmed back up and melted all the snow, which made it to muddy and wet.
Here, they began to dig, however, the lot had to much black dirt (over 5' deep) which made it impossible to dig with a bulldozer. A "Track-Hoe" had to be brought in to dig it, and the good solid clay, which the foundation must sit on, was reached. This prolonged the delay as well, it was just to wet!!
The last week in February, we finally got our excavated hole. Being a 7' deep hole in the ground naturally it collects water and doesn't dry out well. The week after digging, I had dug trenches all around the outside to collect water and pump it out one corner. Then, one day, we get 4" of rain! The put over 2 feet of water in the hole, then the sides caved in ruining all my trenches! So as you can see here, I dug trenches through the middle, which after a week, got it dry enough to pour footers. Thankfully now rain won't be as much of an issue since they can pour the walls right away. Then the construction can start, and it will begin to look like a house! As you can see here once again rain is delaying...I guess spring is here!
This is the home's plans. It is more of a rough sketch since we will add much more detail as we build it. We are going to take many pictures of this once in a lifetime adventure. Don't know that I will have much time to update them, unless it is raining, I am pretty much working on it. Thanks for viewing.
