| January 25, 2004 The 12th was Molly's first birthday party, thanks to all who were able to come. She began taking steps actually on her birthday, and now is walking well, and into everything of course. This month we are embarking on a totally new adventure...beginning construction of our new home. Last June we began casually looking at lots, as we've wanted to build our own home for some time. After driving by 30+ lots over the summer, and seeing nothing suitable, we finally found the perfect lot. It is a nice flat lot in a great location. We closed on it and the construction loan late November and have spent up until now just preparing to build. The sewer lines aren't going to be there until early summer, so there was no big rush to get started anyway. January 26 is the day we are supposed to break ground, but due to an icestorm, it will be delayed a few more days. This will be a long busy year, and we do not expect to finish until about September. So far we have had pretty good weather this winter, so we are just hoping it will stay around and not get to bad. If anyone is interested, we are building a Victorian looking two story home. The garage is on the rear-side corner, it has four bedrooms all upstairs, as well as the laundry room and two bathrooms upstairs, and one downstairs. The first floor is the livingroom, diningroom, kitchen, bathroom and garage. Total living space is 1850 sq. ft. plus the two car garage and full basement. We are looking forward to have much more space than our current home. We have always loved the historic two story homes and thought about renovating one, however, being in new home constuction, I believe it would be easier to start from the ground. Hopefully if I get some free minutes and remember I will keep everyone updated on our webpage. |
