This year I was given a mid-80's Subaru, it ran good, but wasn't worth fixing up because it need exhaust and brake work. So I was in the four-cylinder class. Luckily it was not as hot this year, but was very dry and dusty, and although they wet the track down, it was dry very fast which made a fast and hard-hitting race.

This car didn't seem to hold up well against American cars like Cavaliers and other four cylinders. I am glad I put my wooden 4x4 post across the door, although you are not allowed to hit on the drivers side, it still happens and Im glad the driver side didn't look like the passenger side as you see below! It was literally a foot from my elbow and my driver seat was push over some also. The battery gets mounted in the passenger side floorboard area, and it ended up shoved up under the dash! The hits in the four-banger class seemed worse than last year with the big cars! Front wheel drive can get the speed up quik in dirt.

This years race I was in a lot longer than last year, however I only ended up getting like 6th or 7th place. The engine was toasted after this, even though surprisingly I didn't lose the water, and had no flat tires. There was nothing left to this car, as you can see! The only thing I got out of it was a sore arm also. I think I pulled my muscle hanging on to the steering wheel when the wheels were impacted and turned from one side to the other in a split second! Sorry I don't have any good action shots. Eveyone forgot their cameras for some reason. I have a good video tape of it, but don't know how to get it on here. I would like to try to get the software to do it though. Thanks for viewing my derby page.
