GoldenEye (1995)

James Bond is back again in his 17th installment of the undying movie franchise. This time however, Bond has to investigate a Russian satellite codenamed GoldenEye which is stolen by an unknown party.
This individual known only as Janus destroyed the space weapons facility that houses the satellite control and steals it for his own use. Bond has to stop him before he can fire more EMP charges against major cities in the world which will cripple their communication and infrastructure.

What else can I say aside from the fact that this is just another typical Bond movie? Pierce Brosnan performs his acting really well and I commend him for that. His acting depicts the Bond tradition really well and I think he is actually better than his predecessor, Timothy Dalton.
The Bond girl is played by Izabella Scorupco who sports another cute face, just like all her predecessors. One thing I particularly like is her Russian-accented English (man, you got to love that accent!) which I think is kind of cool. Come to think of it, most of the other characters also have similar accent, one of them being Famke Janssen who stars as Xenia Zaragevna Onatopp, the villainess who strangles her victims to death with her thighs while having sex with them.

The actions are plenty with the right explosions to go along with. The movie starts as usual with a cool opening accompanied by the classical Bond theme song. We have more than enough fireworks throughout aside from the usual gadgets that Bond acquired from Q back at MI-6 headquarters.
Perhaps the most notable issue from GoldenEye is the fresh change that it takes from the previous Bond movies. Now that the Cold War is over, he drove BMW instead of an Aston Martin and M is played by Judi Dench as a woman, not a man anymore. Most of you people out there will say so what? but then its always nice to see a change, dont you think so?

My final impression on GoldenEye is that it is a good movie which retain some of the original Bond elements while introducing some new changes as well (this is the nineties, remember?).
The movie does feel a bit slow at times but it doesnt take too much out of the movie which is alright. Im looking forward to watch more of Pierce Brosnan in his role as 007. Now lets see where did I put my tuxedo again?

Memorable quote: Why cant you just be a good boy and die?
