Exit Wounds (2001)
Rating: 3/10
Review date: May 17, 2002

Its not surprising that I would give this movie a three out of ten rating considering how Steven Seagals movie career has been going down the drain lately.
He stars as Orin Boyd, a Detroit cop who always does things his own way. To cut it short, Boyd was demoted and sent to the 15th precinct (the worst one a cop could possibly land into) where he soon discovers a trail of police corruption

Yawn this movies storyline just sucks big time. I dont know where Ive seen something similar but Im just not impressed by the excessive clichs that this movie keeps throwing at the audience.
The only thing that saves this movie is the fact that it is an action movie and it is supposed to be brainless in a way. Gladly to say, Seagal performed his actions in his usual stylish fights and I find myself quite entertained by them.
The soundtrack was also quite fun to hear and they were inserted during appropriate scenes in the movie which is always a good thing.

Regardless of Seagals appearance in this movie, it just fails to impress me character-wise. Seagal is too stereotypical and the rest of the cast are just so-so. However DMX as Latrell Walker deserves a slight commendation for his acting skills; hope to see him star in more serious movies in the future even though I wont bet my money on that.
One positive aspect is that we get to see some nudity in this flick (which is always a good entertainment by the way) and also some strong language from well everybody.

This movie is a rather nice way to relieve stress because of the lack of storyline and some hilarious lines from Anthony Anderson as T.K. Johnson. Overall this movie feels rather empty which is not a big deal since it does give me a good laugh.
Ultimately I wouldnt recommend this movie to anyone who is not a fan of Steven Seagal or die-hard action movie lovers since theyre just going to end up hating the genre even more.
If you want a more realistic and authentic feel to a movie with similar genre and idea, you will be better off watching Training Day instead. If you still decide to watch Exit Wounds, remember to watch it with a blank mindset and I can guarantee you wont feel any difference afterwards, save for the few cheap laughs that you will experience throughout.

Memorable quote: You see this face? This is a happy face
