Hannibal *The Cannibal* Lecter is the ultimate in bad guys. Below you will find information about that movie/s and my critique - keep in mind this is my opinion only. Also I have just included the main characters in my cast - who remembers the others anyway! "To enter the mind of a killer she must challenge the mind of a madman". -=-Silence of the Lambs (1991)-=- Directed by:
Synopsis The ultimate in movies. Silence Of The Lambs is the ultimate in scary viewing. Yes I'd rather say Candyman 5 times in the mirror before I took on Hannibal. The movie is about new FBI agent-in-training Clarice Starling who is assigned to help find the missing daughter of a Senator. They suspect she's been taken by Buffalo Bill, a psychopathic serial killer who skins his victims (you will all love this part of the movie). Clarice attempts to gain a better insight into the twisted mind of the killer by going to a high security prison and talking to another psychopath Hannibal *the Cannibal* Lecter, who used to be a respected psychiatrist until he found it more diverting to eat his clients with a good Chianti than cure their mental illnesses. Clarice must first try and gain Lecter's confidence by letting him into her own mind before he is to give away any information about how to catch Buffalo Bill. Rated: 9.7/10
-=-Hannibal (2001)-=- Directed by:
Synopsis He's back, and this time on the loose! Dr. Hannibal Lecter has escaped from the asylum in Baltimore and gone to Florence, Italy where he has become the curator of the Palazzo Vecchio. All is well until his cover is blown when policeman Rinaldo Pazzi discovers there is a huge reward offered by the only survivor (Mason Verger) of Hannibal for his capture. FBI agent Clarice Starling (this time played by a lack-luster Julianne Moore) finds out about Mason's revenge which entails feeting Dr. Lecter to a stall of man-eating pigs. The last ¾ of this movie will have your mouth gaping in surprise. Don't read the book if you want to watch this movie though. This movie is sheer genius and I can't wait for another one (but only if it has Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal). Rated: 9.8/10
-=-Red Dragon (2002)-=- How It All Began! Directed by:
Synopsis I waited for this movie for so long it hurt! I must say I wasn't entirely convinced Edward Norton could pull off the part played so long ago by my favorite CSI character Grisham - don't get me wrong, I think E.N is an excellent actor, just didn't know if he could live up to the high standards I already had of this wonderful character. I should not have worried - he did! Anthony Hopkins was as usual perfect as the serial killer Hannibal. I wasn't too thrilled about seeing a *prequel* to Silence Of The Lambs (I reeeeally hate it when the movies go backwards), but couldn't stop myself knowing it had Sir Hopkins in it! So after all my frivilous banter I shall tell you of the movie itself! Three years after retiring from the FBI, Will Graham is approached by Jack Crawford to help out with a new case, involving the senseless butcher of families. Will must then enlist the help of Hannibal to track down the killer who happens to be helping both sides! Loved this movie. Again, although the movie was excellent, the book is a must-read. Rated: 9.8/10
