| What Mike Says: Here it is. The movie from the hit t.v. show He-Man and the Masters of the Universe!! I love the cartoon . This is the movie which came out in 1987. I had high hopes for the movie...but It failed..It's not a bad movie at all...It just didn't seem like I was watching He-man. My favorite characters were not in it. I loved Mer-man, Orko and Battle-cat!! How can you have a He-man movie and not have Battle-cat??!! that is like having a Star Wars without R2-D2. The main plot is centers on earth. Yes Earth!! Not Eternia. Which that is the world where the cartoon takes place. It's a world filled with danger and wonder!! I have a feeling I know why they made it on Earth and not Eternia. I think it was because of the low-budget. It would be easier to have the story on Earth instead of putting out all the money to create creatures and new worlds. The world of He-man is a hugh.(if done right) it would be like making a Star Wars film. Well I can understand why they did it on Earth...I'm not to happy about it...but I understand it!! The Characters are poorly made. Dolph Lundgren who played He-man came off like he never saw the cartoon. Skeletor who is this evil Lord of the darkness came off good. Although I didn't like the way he looked. It looked like a Halloween mask for his skull. They could of made Skeletor so evil looking...but I understand why they didn't. It's a movie for kids...So they didn't want Skeletor to be too scary!! Beast-man was cool but could of been better also. I understand they didn't have CGI to create monsters like we do now. Now that all the fans that were kids from the 80's have grown up lets make a kick ass "He-man movie" They could use CGI for Skeletor's face and make it with a little flesh coming off his face. We all know Skeletor was human before his skin came off when something went wrong when he was doing magic. They can make Beast-man 9foot tall and so cool looking. and Battle-cat could be a 9 feet tall cat with red eyes ..Oh I wish I could make this film...I would do it right!! ..Anyway. If you know it or not "Masters of the Universe is really a dark story!! I will review the cartoon soon...that will give you more into the world of Eternia. Anyway all in all It's not a bad movie if your a fan of He-man. If you don't know much about the history or even care about it. I say stay away from this film. You will not have a clue what is going on!! As far as fans like me, It's kinda cool to see He-man come to life. Even if it's not as good as we hoped!! It's still great fun. Oh ya for fans of Friends, keep an I open for Courteney Cox Arquette. Before making it big!! |
