I'll make you famous....

The whole of this movie is built around the legend that Billy the Kid is still alive and someone wants proof. A lawyer is contacted and asked to meet "Brushy" Bill Roberts in the desert. He wants to confess to his crimes and to finally be pardoned for them before he dies. To prove who he is, Bill starts to tell the lawyer his tale. He was riding with Arkansas Dave Rudabaugh and Pat Garrett in the beginning of the film. He pretends to be dead and some strangers stumble upon the Kid's so-called dead body. They think they can get some money out of him because he is dead and they die for thinking such a stupid thought. However, one of them was not dead and Billy is shot in the leg in the process. He goes to his friend Beaver's place to get the shot dug out and he first encounters Tom who seems to be a sort of vagrant who steals bread to live on. He wants to ride with Billy the Kid. Billy gets word that there is a new governor in town: Governor Lou Wallace. He is collecting all of the participants in the Lincoln County War including Billy's friends Doc Scurlock and Chavez. The Governor says he will give Billy a full pardon if he will testify against the Murphy boys, the ones who killed Billy's employer. Billy agrees but soon finds out that he was tricked and escapes. After Billy scores two new additions to his gang, Pat tells him he will not go with him because he wants to open an eating house and be legit. Billy is angry and is further angered after they ride out because he finds out that Pat has accepted the position as Sheriff. If there is one person that can find Billy the Kid, it's Pat.....

Most people say that the first movie in a series of movies is always the best. However, I did not find that to be the case in terms of Young Guns 2. It was by far my favorite out of the two films. During the time it came out, I think I enjoyed it more because of the addition of Christian Slater. Now that I have grown older, I think I enjoyed it because there was more of a story than the first one and more action. I felt bad for Tom and what he had to endure because he chose to follow his idol in Billy. Emilio Estevez portrayed an excellent Billy the Kid. I especially loved the laugh that he kept doing. Billy was always laughing when he would make mischief and that is exactly what I would expect him to do. Arkansas Dave also added some humor to the story. A world famous outlaw in his mind, hardly anyone in the movie seemed to know who he was. I can't say that there was anything in this film that disappointed me. The characters were interesting and unique and there was tons of action! What else could you ask for in a western and action flick? Therefore, I have to give this film this rating:
