X-Men United!

The X-Men have reached a new peril. After a mutant almost assassinates the President of the United States, the government is under the impression even more now that all mutants are dangerous and should be controlled. One human in particular, Stryker, is out to destroy the race all together. After using his powerful potion to get information out of the imprisoned Magneto, Stryker makes the President and others think that it would be a good thing to raid Xavier's school for mutants and they proceed. Mystique manages to free Magneto but Stryker traps the Professor. Now Magento and the the X-Men must work together to accomplish a common goal: to stop the annihilation of their race and to prevent any humans from getting hurt in the process.

This sequel is the most revealing yet. In it, we learn about the intricate relationships within the X-Men compound and we learn more about Wolverine's past. One of my favorite revealing parts is when Bobby brings Rogue, Pyro, and Wolverine home to his house in Boston after they are attacked. His parents have no idea that he is a mutant and do not seem very accepting after they find out. They say it "complicates" their lives and his brother even calls the police and says they are holding them hostage. His own brother almost gets them killed.

Last movie, I enjoyed the romantic triangle between Dr. Gray/Scott/Logan but this time I enjoyed the pairing of Bobby and Rogue equally. They are so made for each other. Bobby seems to have better control over his power than Rogue but he is calm with her and he understands her. Isn't that what all of us women are looking for in a man? I love the scene where Bobby and Rogue finally kiss. It was outstanding and in the end had the outcome that you would expect.

Wolverine was great with his witty comments and returns as always. Bobby is obviously and stupidly jealous of Logan and is obstinant with him at first because of Rogue. After he finally gets it through his head that Logan is not going to be a threat, he lets his guard down. One scene that is really funny is when Logan first comes back and Bobby says he is Rogue's boyfriend. Logan is like, "So you're her boyfriend. H0w do you two..." And Bobby says they are still figuring out that part. That was pretty funny.

All in all, X2 outdid the first film and I did not think that was possible. The special effects were outstanding and the plot was ten times better than the first. Bryan Singer has turned out another gem!
