Sam Gerard always gets his man......
When two truck man, Mark Roberts crashes his truck, he goes to the hospital thinking everything is okay. His girlfriend Marie pays his bill and they are about to leave when a policeman stops them. They are arresting Mark in connection with a crime in New York City because his fingerprints match. He swears to his girlfriend that there has been a mix-up. Sam Gerard, U.S. Marshall, rides on the plane that Mark is one when he is being transported to the prison. Once the plane is in the air, one of the prisoners tell the guard that he has to go to the bathroom. There is a weapon in the toilet paper roller and he uses it to blow a hole in the plane. The plane crashes and Mark gets away, with Sam Gerard close behind him. Mark knows he was framed and he must find out who it is before Gerard and his gang catch up with him or before he dies, whatever comes first....
This movie is filled with non-stop action! Nothing less than what you could expect from an action great like Tommy Lee Jones! U.S. Marshals is supposed to be a break-off of The Fugitive and it did its job in matching up to the Harrison Ford remake. When the hole is blown on the plane, I started thinking about the movie Con-Air. When I first watched this movie, I thought the movie was going to be a little like that one. Prisoners take over the plane...which really did not happen.
The acting was superb! Tommy Lee Jones mixed his seriousness and dry wit together to add a bit of humor to such a serious film. Also, his partner Cosmo was always coming up with something crazy to say. Robert Downey Jr. portrayed Agent Royce and kept me guessing the whole time. Also, Wesley Snipes played a great dramatic role as Mark Roberts. I really believed him at the beginning when he said he did not kill those people when it turns out that he really did, but not in the way that the cops think he did.
Overall, I can see why this film has done so well at the theater and at the movie rental store. It is chock full of plenty of action and adventure and it is one that I will enjoy for years to come!
I rate this movie: 8
