"A very dim light"

As the movie begins, we get to see "Tommy Boy" as a child. We then move onto see him as a college student and his mind seems to not have grown. Only his body has grown. After he graduates from college, he goes back to his hometown of Sandusky and is met by his lifelong friend/nemesis Richard Hayden who now works for his father. His father owns an auto parts factory and is about to introduce a new brake pads line. Tommy goes on the floor with him and his investors and watches as his dad uses his gift of words to secure the investments. Big Tom gives Tommy his own office and position which Richard resents. Tommy then learns that his father is getting re-married to a younger woman. Tommy is excited for him and even more so when he finds out that he is going to have a brother with marriage, Paul. But when Tommy's dad dies at the reception after the marriage, his life begins to change. Another company wants to buy Tommy out and he will do anything to keep the factory going, even if he doesn't know how to. He and Richard volunteer to go on the road to sell the new brake pads and save the company. Then Tommy learns that he has the same selling gift his father did, he just has to harness it and learn how to use it. And it is hilarious watching him learn to!

Tommy Boy is probably my favorite Chris Farley movie. He did so much in it: comedy, dancing, singing...he was one of my favorite comedic actors. I have a lot of favorite scenes in this movie. I love the scene when Paul and Tommy are spraying off after they fall in a cow field. That whole conversation is priceless. The scenes were Tommy is trying to sell to different investors are also very funny. I also laughed at Tommy fighting the assembly line when he was with his father in the beginning. That one was also classic. My absolute favorite though is when Tommy gets the chicken wings he wants and learns he has his dad's talent for selling. It's funny and yet thoughtful.

Chris Farley, I know, is sorely missed by the comedy community. He was so talented and this movie really showcased that talent. Pure comedy at its Farley best.

I rate this movie: 8
