Her heart will go on!

Titanic is a story based so loosely on the real thing that the only thing factual about the movie is that the ship sank at the end. It begins with a bunch of researchers searching the ruins of the Titanic, looking for the "Heart of the Ocean" diamond that was rumored to have been lost at sea when the ship sank. They find a safe and when it is opened, there is only a drawing of a young naked woman wearing the diamond on a couch. The broadcast the drawing on air and an old woman contacts them claiming to be the woman in the picture. She claims to be Rose and the picture is of her. They invite her down and she starts telling them her story. She came from a family with a wealthy family name, but the truth was that her money was running out and her only hope of financial security was to marry rich. That is why her mother chose Cal Hockley for her to marry because he was rich and handsome. Rose seems not very interested in Cal and has a spirit and a mind of her own that Cal does not usually let her express. While aboard the ship Titanic, she meets Jack Dawson. Jack Dawson is a poor artist who is only on the Titanic by a fluke: he and his friends won tickets to it in a poker game. When he sees Rose, he falls in love instantly and never looks back. The people with him says that she is too high class for him but he does not care. He is determined to have her. After he saves her life one night, Rose is enamored with Jack and cannot let him out of her sight, even after Cal forbids her to see him anymore. Their love affair grows and Rose finally decides that when the ship docks, she is leaving with Jack. Then the rest is history because we all know what happened to the Titanic!

Titanic was a wonderful movie to see up on the big screen. It stayed at the theater in town for nearly six months or more before leaving because more and more people were seeing it and the ones who had already saw it were going to see it again. I think I saw it twice before it left at three hours and fifteen minutes a piece! The special effects were amazing. Most of all, I enjoyed the sweet but bitter love story between Jack and Rose. I wanted so bad for them to leave the ship together but one was to be lost at sea! Of course, one can suspect that in any love tragedy.

There were two real parts of the movie that I hated and it mainly had to do with storyline. I hated seeing Cal slap Rose around when she did not do something he wanted her to do. The other part that I hated was when one of them had to die in the end. I won't tell you which one in case you still haven't seen it.

I really enjoyed seeing Jack and Rose finally get together and run all over the ship together. She deserved someone nice and understanding of her and also someone who would let her express her thoughts and ideas. He should have had those qualities and looked like Billy Zane instead of Leo DiCaprio though. I also enjoyed the scene where Rose rescues Jack when he is in the galley. It is great to have a love so strong that you will go though heaven and hell to save the other one's life while risking your own.

Overall, the movie was very well thought out and some of the real names of people who were on the ship were used. They also found out after the movie was made that there was actually a J. Dawson that was on the ship but they do not know much about him. It really gives you a feel of what those poor souls who died on the Titanic ship went through before dying and also what kinds of fights the survivors had to endure before they were rescued. If you have not seen this film, I can say it is on my recommendation list for an every once in a while flick.

I rate this film: 7
