Evil comes in many faces....
Mark, a young boy who loses his mother to cancer after he vows he will not let her die, has a lot of problems. Internally, he blames himself but at least he still has his dad. That is, until his father is offered the business deal of a lifetime in Tokyo, Japan that will set him and his son for the rest of their lives. He leaves the boy with his uncle and the uncle's wife and two kids. Wallace, Mark's Uncle, has a son who is about Mark's age named Richard. Once Mark's father sees how well the two of them hit it off that night at dinner, he decides that it will be okay for him to leave him with that family for a little while. Henry, Wallace's son, even suggests to Mark that they can be brothers when he offers him a scary mask he made for Mark that is identical to his. Mark likes him instantly. The next time they play together, Mark almost falls and Henry almost seems to enjoy every moment but it seems like Mark does not notice that he did. Henry starts to show his true colors to Mark when he picks up a box he hides by an old well. A cigarette is inside and he lights it and begins to smoke. He asks him what his dead mother looked like and he wanted details to the point that Mark gets upset.Henry apologizes and reveals that his little brother Richard drowned in the bathtub when he was just a baby. As things progress, Mark discovers that Henry makes weapons in his shed and suggests on hurting his whole family to taunt Mark. Mark believes he is capable of doing it, especially after he tries to kill his little sister. But no one believes him. Can he find someone to believe him or will he have to save the family himself before it is too late?
This is an unbelievable tale of a very disturbed little boy, Henry. I have met kids that seem deranged as children and then turn into deranged adults if they do not receive treatment and that would be a perfect example of this boy. The problem is, why did he turn out this way? His parents were doting and very loving on both him and his sister. His jealousy was so extreme that he would kill his baby brother. The question would be why? But thena again, why does any kid do the things that they do? It amazed me that everyone would think Mark was crazy even though all of the signs were undescribably there. I think the scariest and freakiest part of this movie to me was when Henry made the Mr. Highway dummy and caused a huge accident. He was actually smiling through the whole thing. Why would anyone be that cruel and unfeeling?
This movie will disturb you deep when you realize that the evil is this child. I know it did me because no one wants to believe that such a precious child would be so guilty. Watch it with a friend!
I rate this movie: 7
