Totally Radical!

The movie opens with a stereotype of New York people eating pizza. A pizza delivery boy arrives to reporter and big pizza customer April O'Neil's apartment and coming up on smugglers. The pizza boy, Keno also knows martial arts and attacks the smugglers. Then out of nowhere, the Turtles appear and dip Keno into a trash can. When he gets back out, there is money where the pizza was. For now, the Turtles and Splinter are living with April since their home was destroyed and discovered in the first film. The Turtles behave like teenagers and when they misbehave, Splinter makes them do jumps or other exercises after chastizing them. Meanwhile, Tatsu, Shredder's right hand man, decides to take over and rebuild the Foot Clan claiming to be the new leader. When he tries to claim, Shredder reappears and retakes control. The main course of the story follows April and the Turtles involvement with a scientist, Jordan Perry who has been doing environmental experiments. The company TGRI he works for has been dumping waste for years and he comes across the ooze waste that has been dumped and it has unusual effects on whoever is exposed to it. Could this possibly explain some of the weirdness going on in these movies? Can Shredder use the ooze against them? Will they be able to defeat the Shredder once again?

If you are about 13 and into cartoons, this movie should go over with you well with no problem. With the exception of the violence, it is an okay movie for kids to watch. For an adult, it might be a little boring. The Turtles have their usual witty saying like "Cowabunga" and such but very few scenes are actually laughable. One could also do without the "Turtle Power" song and appearance by Vanilla Ice even though he was pretty popular when this movie came out.

On an up side, The Turtles and Shredder's creations were beautifully crafted and looked very realistic for the time in which this movie was made. I liked it at the time because my sister was in love with Vanilla Ice when it came out and it was one of the few movies she would actually sit down and watch that I too wanted to watch. Now that I am older, it has lost its appeal.
