"We all go a little mad sometimes."

Marion Crane thought today would be just like any other day. She did not expect to be leaving town with a client's money to be with her boyfriend. She did not expect to get tired and stop at the Bates motel or to meet the infamous Norman Bates. She definitely did not expect to die that night. But Norman did plan for her to die that night. What he did not count on was that her sister and Marion's boyfriend would not rest until she was found. Also throw in a private investigator hired by Marion's boss to find her because she ran off with the money and you have a horror, thriller, on your hands! What really happened to Marion Crane? Was it Norman? Was it Norman's mother? Or did some person see her with the money and decide to rob her. Maybe it wasn't who we thought is was at the beginning. But come on, who are we kidding anyway.

I admit when I went to see this at the movie, I was very skeptical because I did not think that the first Psycho movies could be undone. I was right. Even though there were some great scenes, this in no way outdid Anthony Perkins performance as Norman Bates. Vince Vaughn did a great job but he was just too goofy as Norman. I have never seen Norman as a goofy man and he did not play that off too well. I enjoyed Anne Heche's performance as Marion Crane for the brief time that she was not there. The shower scene was great. I liked the detail of the curtain and the blood going down the drain. I also enjoyed the scene showing Norman clean up after himself and how good he was at doing that. It makes you wonder just how long he had been doing that at the hotel.

I guess I did not really like this movie as much as the original because I knew what was going to happen somewhat from seeing the previous ones. I knew Norman was his mother. I knew there was going to be a shower scene. I was not really shocked by anything. The only thing that kind of shocked me was what Norman was doing as he was watching Marion through the wall of her hotel room. That grossed me out too in the theater because everything was so loud.

Overall, it is a good watch. Just a little disappointed because I was hoping for something shocking that may not have been introduced before. Oh well, I guess you can't have everything.
