A War of Angels

Christopher Walken gives once another brillant performance as the fallen angel Gabriel in this sequel. After being thrown from Hell, Gabriel begins to wreak havoc on the Earth. There has been a war in Heaven. Angel v. Angel. Some of the angels believe in God and his love covers everyone and the other angels believe that the humans have stolen God's love for them as "the best" and they want to destroy them. Gabriel is one of the angels that believe that humans are a disgrace and nothing more than "monkeys". He then learns that it has been prophesied that an angel and a human woman will give birth to a child that will bring both factions of angels back together and make them one again. He wants that stopped and will do anything to accomplish it. Along the way, he picks up a suicidal teen (Brittany Murphy) who he makes do his bidding. But will he pay the ultimate price for his disobedience to God?

I really like this movie because it accentuates the spiritual side of humanity and focuses on Bible and angel lore. That type of subject always peaks my interest. My favorite part of the movie is right at the end when the lightening flashes and what you see there. You will have to watch it to see what I am talking about. And of course, having Eric Roberts in any movie is always a plus! He plays a great archangel Michael, even if he is not in it very much.

One thing I can say that would have made this movie better is when Danyael reveals himself as an angel to Valerie, who is the carrier of the angel child. The viewer of the movie only sees the shadow of Danyael showing her his wings and I think we as viewers should have gotten to see him in his true form as she supposedly did.

All in all, this movie is great. It is highly recommended by me.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I give this movie a 7

7= This movie has a permanant place on my shelf and is one that I will continue to watch over and over for years to come.
