You won't feel no pain......

During the 1980's, a a vampire must drink blood 3 times from a virgin male or she will begin to look her age. At least that is what the Countess says in this film, "Once Bitten". She is convinced that there is not a male virgin left on this earth. That is, until she meets Mark Kendall. Mark Kendall is a frustrated teen who is ready "to become a man" and sleep with his girlfriend Robin Pierce. However, she is reluctant because she says it is not the right time and denies him. Mark tells his buddies of his quandry and Russ suggests they check out a night club. Mark says he doesn't want to because of all the easy women in those places. His buddies convince him that is exactly the reason to go. After he loses his virginity, he will be able to be with Robin and not be so frustrated. That night, he meets the Countess. He is a little drunk and she brings him back to her place after a fight ensues. She takes blood from his groin and must have two more transfusions before All Hallow's Eve or she will start to show her age, and she is over 300 years old! However, just after the first encounter, Mark starts to become different. He craves raw meat and blood, he becomes pale, and the sun hurts his eyes. The Countess wants Mark for her own and he will be a vampire and permanently under her spell after she bites him a third time. But Robin is ready to fight for her man and will not let the Countess have him. Even if it causes Robin her life, she will save Mark.

Honestly, I was a little bored by the whole thing. At the beginning, it is just about a bunch of teenage guys trying to get laid. There is plenty of comedy from Jim Carrey which I thoroughly enjoyed. There is one scene at the store where Robin works where he is making the funny faces he is known for. I loved that! However, the best scene of the movie was at the end when he, the Countess, and Robin are dancing and fighting over Mark at the pre-Halloween dance at school. That was the best! What made this movie boring though was the lack of action. Robin whines. Mark whines. His friends whine. It's just pathetic. Lauren Hutton played a pretty good vampire, but she did not seem aggressive enough. They also made Robin seem too much like a child in the beginning. When her and Mark are fighting in school, she is holding a folder with a picture of Crayolas on it. She is in high school and that folder is a little too young for her. Here's the kicker. There was too much music and not enough speaking. I guess that is a little characteristic for an 80's movie but I still think it caused a problem.
