You've got the body, and I've got the brain......

That is about the best line in the whole film unfortunately. Troubled teen Jesse Walsh has been plagued by nightmares after moving into Nancy's old house. His father got a good price on it but it stays extremely too hot inside of it. So hot in fact that two birds go nuts, one killing the other and then attacking the family before exploding into flames. His parents think he is crazy and his poor girlfriend does not know what to think. She tries to help him the best way she knows how. But Jesse is starting to see murders in his dream and he even dreams that he is doing them himself. He wants it all to go away. He learns about Fred Krueger from a diary of Nancy's they found while cleaning his room. He is convinced that it is Krueger that has taken over him but Lisa dismisses it even after he can give her details of a murder that happened in their school one night. Jesse knows one thing...Freddy wants to use his body and if Jesse won't totally give into him, he will make Jesse do his bidding. It's a battle of Jesse vs. Freddy. Is Jesse strong enough to overcome him?

Does this movie not sound as interesting as all of the other Nightmare on Elm Street films put together? That's probably because this movie is the worst in the series of Freddy films. Robert Englund, as usual, gives an outstanding performance as Freddy Krueger. No one could expect anything less from him. However, the rest of the acting in the film is horrible. Mark Patton who portrays Jesse is a horrible actor. Sometimes it seems like he is reading off of a card and other times he is overacting. He is too over the top. Kim Myers gave a so-so performance as the do-gooder girlfriend Lisa Webber. Her acting was not that well done until the end when she gets very emotional.

The special effects in this film were good. I especially liked the part after Freddy bit Lisa and the bugs were coming out. That was cool. There is another great scene when Freddy finally "comes out" of Jesse. I could not believe the excellent way this was done because a lot of other films had similar special effects and they looked "hokey". I believe the best part of the film is at the beginning. Jesse is having a dream about Freddy and he speaks the famous quote, "You've got the body, I've got the brain.". and exposes the part that he says he has. That was my favorite part!

One major thing that upset me about this film is that it seemed to be more different than the other Elm Street flicks. Nancy was mentioned but she did not seem to be a large part of the story. The acting as I elaborated on above was horrible. I was embarrassed for Robert Englund to have to work with such shabby actors in this film. I rarely watch this film because it sickens me because it is so bad.
