The Loser Squad or Real Superheroes?

The movie begins with a strange party going on with a lot of rich elderly people attending. a group called "The Red Eyes" attacks and steals from them. This small group of superheroes in their own mind, the mystery men, step in. "Mr. Furious", whose power is supposed to come from his limitless rage, "The Blue Raja", a fork throwing mama's boy, and "The Shoveler" who fights with...you guessed it, his shovel! They show how ineffective their fighting capabilities and teamwork is and captain amazing comes in and saves the day. He takes rightful credit for the rescue and the men are mad that he does and they do not get any credit (which they did not deserve). On thei r way out, a man gives them his card and tells them they need more fire power. The SHoveler considers it but Mr. Furious will not hear of it. Captain Amazing turns out to be too amazing as his endorsements he receives are falling away as he has solved all of the crime in the city and there is nothing for him to do anymore. His alter ego, Lance Hunt, goes to arch-criminal, Casanova Frankenstein's parole hearing and reads a so-called letter from Captain Amazing , in which he states that he believes Casanova is rehabilitated. He is released much to the delight of Captain Amazing, who plans to have the ultimate showdown with him so that he will regain his popularity. After Casanova is released, Amazing goes to visit him almost immediately. Casanova takes Amazing hostage. Roy/Mr. Furious sees this and knows that this is the chance that he and his team have been waiting for. But there is not a real team and they decide to recruit which brings about more blunders. Can they recruit enough people in time to save Captain Amazing and stop Casanova Frankenstein?

I like this movie. It is not one that I cansay that I love but it is one that I watch once in a while. I really enjoyed all of the characters in the Mystery Men Squad, except for Roy/Mr. Furious. He really seemed to get on my nerves but then again, it could have been because Ben Stiller was playing him. Sometimes Stiller has that effect on me. He gets so annoying sometimes that I want to get up and turn off the video. As for the others, I love the "Invisible Boy", "Baby Bowler", "Blue Raja", and "The Spleen". "The Shoveler" was tolerable, but what did he do, really? The "Blue Raja" has a strange relationship with his mother and it was interesting to see him practicing for his fights. I love JaneaneGarofalo in just about anything she performs in. She is great with her off color remarks and sarcastic mannerisms. That was enough to make me watch just because she was starring in it. Plus, we get to see something else with Paul Reubens. He may not be the best guy in the world offstage, but I love watching him act because he is so funny! It is hard to pick just one scene that was my favorite. I loved the scene where Baby Bowler first shows the guys what she can do. I also like the scene where Invisible Boy finally becomes invisible. Spleen's scene when he is shot in his "secret weapon". Blue Raja's terrible mistake involving Captain Amazing, sick as it was, made me laugh too.

Overall, it was an enjoyable enough movie. But if Ben Stiller annoys you, I would skip this one.
