Somebody stop me!

One of the now famous lines from the Mask film starring Jim Carrey. He potrays Stanley Ipkiss, a lowly loan officer who can never seem to get the girl. Then Tina Carlyle walks into his life, a singer from the Coco Bongo, and flirts with him but does not even get her number. His friend plans on taking him to the Coco Bongo club that night and Stanley goes to get his car so he will have something halfway decent to drive up to the club in but he finds out the mechanics have found more wrong with it and they give him a trashy loaner. His friend forgets about him at the club and he does not get in. He leaves in the monster car and it breaks down on a bridge. Stanley then sees what he thinks is a body floating in the water and jumps down to find a mask. After he gets back to his apartment, he put on the Mask and becomes this somewhat magical creature who is just the opposite of Stanley. He beats a street gang, trashes the apartment hallway, and severely punishes the mechanics who were ripping Stanley off. He wales up the next day thinking its all a dream but a suspicious detective names Kellaway brings him back to reality. He suspects Stanley but he has no proof. Stanley loves the feeling he gets when he is in the Mask and plans on continuing to wear it. Will Stanley finally get the girl of his dreams? Or will she fall for the Mask only? Watch and see!

This movie was hilarious as many of the Carrey films are! Jim Carrey was really able to showcase the comical talent that has made him so great! His overexaggerated facial expressions and hilarious hooks have been a staple of his now for years. There was no big lesson to be learned, just that the geek may finally get the girl? If you haven't seen this film, pick it up! It has great special effects and enough comedy to keep you interested the whole time!

I rate this film: 9
