Very strange indeed!

Michael and his younger brother Sam are about to enter a whole new world and I don't mean California. Due to some hardships, the family is having to move in with the father of their mother, Lucy. Sam is especially bored being a young person with no television and he feels like there is really nothing to do there. Michael takes Sam to a concert nearby to get him out of the house. While there, he sees a girl that has him enchanted and he insists on following him much to Sam's dismay. Sam wanders into a comic store and meets two weirdos who apparently work there, the Frog Brothers. They recommend a vampire comic and Sam tells them that he hates horror comics. But they insist in saying that reading it may save his life. Meanwhile Michael is tangling with his feelings about the girl he has met Star because it seems that she is with another man yet he is still enchanted by her. As Michael begins to get more and more involved with Star and her group, Sam starts noticing changes in Michael. He sleeps during the day, wears sunglasses during the day, and has a taste for blood of any kind. Sam meets up with the Frog Brothers again and they tell them that there are vampires in Santa Clara and they know how to get rid of them. They give Sam another horror comic and their phone number, telling him to call if they need him. Sam starts to think....could Michael be one too?

This has been one of my absolute favorite movies for a long time! I remember seeing this when it first came out and being so in love with Corey Haim. My sister and I were obsessed with the Coreys (Haim/Feldman)! Everything about it seemed so great for its time period. The vampires looked so real! You had a bit of a love story, new friendships, surprises, chills, and comedy!

I think one of the funniest parts in the movie is Sam singing in the bathtub. Everyone in the movie theater was laughing when they showed that. The story kept me interested too. The whole process of Michael becoming a vamp was involved physically and emotionally. His thirst increased for blood and sunlight bothered him. There was even one scene where Sam sees Michael's reflection fading in the mirror.

By the end, I thought I had figured out who the head vamp was a couple of times in the movie and then my theories were dispelled only to be proven again in the end.

If you like 80's style horror flicks, this is one for you! The cast and story are great!
