Highway to Hell!
In Little Nicky, most of the characters are either in Hell or wanting to be there. We are introduced to Hell in the first of the movie after a pervert peeping tom falls out of a tree and dies. He is immediately sent to Hell where the Gatekeeper sentences him to be followed by a horny bird for the rest of his days (you'll have to see it to know why!:)) However, that day is a big day in Hell that the pervert arrives. Satan is having a meeting with his three sons: Cassius, Adrian, and Little Nicky. He has talked of retirement and one of them is to be his successor for the next 10,000 years. But after careful consideration, he decides that none of his three sons have the perfect balance of good and evil within him to claim the throne and be the new Satan...so he decides to stay on the throne for the next 10,000 years himself. Nicky is relieved at the news because he did not seem to have very much ambition in being the new devil anyway. Unfortunately, Cassius and Adrian do not feel the same. They are furious when their father announces the decision and decide to go to Earth, corrupt the good souls, and make their Hell on Earth. To do this, they break a vital code of Hell. They go through the fire portal doorway from which a soul is only supposed to enter Hell and not exit it. Since they exited it, the fire froze and no new souls are allowed inside of Hell. Because of this, Nicky's father, Satan begins to decompose. He will ultimately die if Cassius and Adrian do not return to Hell at the same time in a specific length of time. Nicky wants his father to go to Earth and get them but he is too weak. So he asks his father's personal servant, but he has no devil blood in him. It is Nicky that must go to Earth and bring back his brothers in a flask given to him by his father. If not, his father will die and once he is in a weakened condition, one of the brothers can take the throne and become the new Dark Prince. Can Nicky and his new friends, Mr. Beefy, John, Peter, Valerie, and Todd save the Earth? Will they make it in time to save his father? How much power does Nicky really have? Who really is his mother?
There were some really cool special effects in this film and two of my favorite parts rotate around those type of scenes. There is one part where Nicky finally "releases his evil side" and becomes thousands of little spiders that chase the people that are chasing him. Then when he gets back to his apartment, the spiders all pile on top of each other and become Nicky again. The other part that was one of my favorites was when Cassius and Adrian escape at the beginning of the film. The Gatekeeper makes a weak attempt at stopping them and then becomes terrifed and falls to his knees before Satan when he has to tell him. Satan tells him to get up and not worry about it, but he punishes him anyway....by putting two large breasts on each side of his head!:) That part was hilarious. The only thing I really did not like about this film is that it made Hell look like a party zone and Heaven look really boring. I thought that was really wrong. But besides that, this film was great. It was a perfect combination of comedy with a touch of horror. I did think it needed a rated R rating and not just PG-13 though. If you haven't already seen this, go rent it.
