"They're back!"

Mel Gibson and Danny Glover return in this luke warm sequel to the awesome opening of Lethal Weapon. When the movie begins, the terrible twosome are chasing a perp in Roger's wife's new car. They get into a gun fight with them and they hear a strange kind of guttural accent across the radio. When they finally crash, the perps manage to escape but Riggs and Murtaugh find a trunk full of gold coins. During this certain chase, they did tons of damage and in return, the captain wants them to babysit a star witness in a mob trial, Leo Getz. They are reluctant but they really have no choice. As they are protecting him, there is an attempt on his life at the hotel and Riggs, the assassin, and Getz all fall out of a high story window and into a swimming pool below. They are forced to take Leo with them and they go back to Roger's house. Soon they learn that the people in the car from the other night were South African and from the South African Consulate. The diplomats are none too happy and they move in quickly to exterminate Riggs and Murtaugh the best way they know how. Can these two lethal weapons survive?

There are so many funny scenes in this movie that I don't know where to start! One of my favorite funny scenes is when Roger's daughter stars in a condom commercial after the whole police station sees it. He ends up with all kinds of condom jokes in the area. I also like the first time that Joe Pesci really goes off as Getz in this movie, "They **** you when you go throught the drive thru and so on and so on....However, one of the funniest scenes I really enjoyed in this movie was when Riggs and Murtaugh were leaving the captain's office and Riggs lights up a cigarette. The captain throws him a sign that says "No Smoking" and asks him if he knows what that says. He says yeah, the same thing as that, and points to a no smoking sign on the wall and then says but I don't give a ****. Hilarious stuff!

Even though this film is filled with action and comedy, there were some low points. I know it was a much needed part of the movie but it took away from it entirely in my opinion. I am talking about all of the reminiscing with Riggs and Trish about the night his wife Vicky died. It was believable enough but why did we have to rehash that he missed his wife? That was already established big time in the first one. We really did not need that drama in this movie. There were already so many other great things happening!

Overall, this is a really nice film, but as a friend of mine would say, "It's not hot. It's only luke (warm). This film is truly the least favorite of all of the Lethal Weapon movies I have seen.
