"You Bet Your Life"

A poor bum comes into a pawn shop and wants to sell a statue of a Leprechaun with a medallion around his neck to him. He gives him some money for it and the bum leaves. The owner thinks that the medallion might bring in some money and takes it off the statue, thus releasing the Leprechaun. Once he gets a good look at the medallion he decides that it is junk and turns around to find a pot of gold but no Leprechaun. Out of nowhere, the Leprechaun attacks him but he gets to the medallion and holds it up to repel the Leprechaun. He takes his gold and leaves the owner's shop. Meanwhile, Scott and Tammy meet by chance. Tammy works at a casino and Scott is able to get inside. He finds the one gold coin that the Leprechaun dropped in the pawn shop and makes a wish. He starts winning. Everone else in the casino that knows about the coin starts scrambling for it. Little do they know the consequences it holds once the person no longer holds it........

To me, every installment of this series gets better. This one is another great example. I like the fact that these movies mix horror and comedy so the effects of the horror are not quite so bad. To be Leprechaun in Las Vegas, it really starts in a good place, the pawn shop where most of these poor souls are trying to get more money. Which, coincedentally, Scott is also one of those poor souls. Because of that, he gets his wish. The comedy seemed to take over a little as the Leprechaun had more clever but witty quips and an Elvis imitation going on in this film. I found myself laughing more than gasping.

However, if I had to pick one scene I liked the most from this film, it would have to be when Scott starts to become a Leprechaun after the Lep bite! It is funny yet not so funny and very interesting. I especially liked the Irish accent that the actor came up with when he started turning.

The one thing that the movie needed more of was horror. However, that did not even seem to bring this movie down.
