Can you totally live a lie?

That is the question that Evan Marino must answer in the movie, "Laws of Deception". As a child, he learned quickly that his parents had ties to the mob when they were killed before his eyes by a prominent mobster, Gino Carlucci, one Christmas. Somehow he walked away even though the house he was in burned to the ground. Flash forward twenty years later. Evan has attended law school and is studying to be a lawyer. His life has become as normal as every other young person his age. He has a best friend, Cal Miller (Brian Austin Green) who seems to be often looking out for Evan's interests more than Evan would like to admit. You see a spark of professional jealousy between Evan and Cal throughout the whole film. Evan is ready to graduate top of his class....until he meets Elise Talbot while studying in the library with Cal. She pretends that she is also a law student and she and Evan begin to date and grow closer. Cal seems to see right through this "too good to be true" girlfriend and identifies her to her face as a "predator". She balks back that she really does love Evan but Cal does not believe it. Evan starts failing and missing his classes. Cal is concerned and talks him into going out one night to a strip club. While there, Cal sees Elise stripping and tries to get Evan out of there but it is too late. Shortly after Elise breaks up with Evan. About five years later, Evan graduated law school and is now an attorney with a prestigious Miami law firm. Elise comes back into his life when she comes to him for legal counsel. It seems she has killed her mobster husband and she needs Evan to defend her. Should he defend the woman that left him high and dry five years ago or should he let her find another attorney? You are going to have to watch this movie to see what happens next!

This is an excellent who-done-it movie! I can usually unravel the plot before the ending of these type movies and this one totally stunned me at the end. This film is definitely worth the rent! And to think, I picked this movie up because it sounded good and it was on sale..........
