Can your future really be in the past?

Stuart Besser wants to find that out as he finds a rip in time and enters it. He is transported from now back to April 28, 1876 and Leopold, Duke of Albany, follows him back out of the portal. The only problem: Leopold invented the elevator and all of them stop all over the city. Stuart interrupted time and because of Leopold following him back, soon there will be no elevators and things will slowly fall apart because Leopold was never married like he was supposed to announce his engagement that night. When Stuart gets back, he tries to tell his next door neighbor and ex-girlfriend Kate about his time travel. She does not believe him. Leopold then encounters Kate when she comes over looking for her Palm Pilot from Stuart. She does not believe him when he says Leopold is from another time and she leaves. Stuart goes to take his dog for a walk and falls down the elevator shaft, busting himself up pretty badly. Kate takes Leopold and the dog out for a walk and he discovers the future New York. Later he discovers Kate and falls in love. But Stuart informs him that he cannot stay in their time or he will change history and it could be damaging. After Stuart gets out of the hospital, he takes Leopold to the bridge where the portal will open and Leopold can go back. Is Leopold's future really back in his past or is Kate's?

This is a great drama without the tears so much. There are a few times that you may seem bored out of your mind but he comedy between takes keeps you awake. Liev Schreiber throws in his own comedy as people think he is crazy because he keeps telling everyone about his time travel. Also, Breckin Meyer always makes me laugh! Leopold tries to show him how to treat a lady and that is also very entertaining. Meg Ryan portrayed the perfect Kate. I really could not see anyone in the role except for her.

I think my favorite scene in the film is when Charlie and Stuart realize that Kate is supposed to be with Leopold. What ensues after that is amazing and really makes you believe in love again (in case you are like me and have given up on it all together!). If you want a warm fuzzy drama, this is your movie!
