"I am the Law."
We are presented with a story of the Earth during the Third Millennium. Judges are now judge, jury, and executioner as they prowl the streets trying to control the street savages. We are then introduced to Herman Ferguson who has just been released into parole and into this strange world. He gets placed in a bad neighborhood that has a riot. Judges Dredd and Hershey are dispensed to the scene and they find Herman hiding in a droid and he is sentenced once again. Then a vililan named Rico escapes who used to be Dredd's partner and he starts causing havoc in the city, only he does it dressed as Dredd and gets Dredd arrested. Now Dredd must somehow stop Rico from outside of the city and that leaves him with one friend, Herman. Then Dredd, in the process, learns a terrible truth about himself and about Rico that changes his life forever. Can he use this information to stop Rico once and for all?
Sound a little boring. Frankly because it was. We see a few love sparks between Dredd and Hershey. There is a good bit of action but nothing really interesting. There are also some special effects but I really was not that impressed with this film. Stallone gave the worst acting performance of his life. Hershey was an uninteresting character. Rico was too predictable. As soon as he appeared on the scene, you knew what the deal was with him and there was really no reason to continue watching because you know how it is going to end up.
The best part of this movie was Rob Schneider. As always, Schneider gave a great comedic performance in this drab and dull film. I could barely stay awake to watch the end of this because I was bored! A sure cure for insomnia! If you haven't seen this film, skip it. It's not even worth a rental price!
I rate this movie: 3
