A vampire next door?
Charlie Brewster is the biggest fan of Vampire Hunter, Peter Vincent on television. He never misses him, not even when he's making out with his girlfriend, Amy. His entire outlook on life changes when he thinks he sees some men bringing a coffin into the house next door. His mother tells him the house has a new owner. The nest day a sexy woman asks Charlie for directions and then Charlie sees the woman listed as murdered on the television the next day while he is trying to make up with Amy. That night he sees another woman enter the house and sees a vampire about to bite her in the window. Then he realizes it: he has a vampire as a neighbor! A guy comes out with a body and Charlie goes to the police. The police search and find nothing and they think Charlie is crazy. The only ones left to help him are Amy and his friend "Evil" Ed..and maybe Peter Vincent. They must stop the vampire from killing and defeat it. But then the vampire, Jerry Dandridge, takes something very precious to Charlie and they must retrieve it before sunrise. Will he make it in time? Will he be able to retain the services of Peter Vincent?
It had been a long time since I had seen this film and I sat down to watch it again. It's a little dated but it is still a great movie! There are plenty of thrills but not really a lot of gore. Plus I really enjoyed the way they created the vampires and the contour of their teeth. It was something different that I have yet to see repeated in any other horror film.It was a change seeing Amanda Bearse in a "leading lady" type role after finding out the true "her" on Married With Children. But overall, I think my favorite character was Ed, even after he turned, he kept me in stitches! Horror and comedy make a perfect combination in this classic horror film!
I rate this film: 9
