"Unbelievable...ohhhh!!" Well, maybe.....
The Adventures of Ford Fairlane is a pretty cool flick, but it seems that as you get older and watch it again, it's attractiveness fades. I guess why I first liked it is because I liked Andrew Dice Clay and probably because I was a teenager when I first saw it. Now that I am older ...I don't know. Read on and judge for yourself.
One major criticism I have of this movie is that it starts out by jumping around a lot. At the beginning, Bobby Black, Lead singer of the band The Black Plague, is killed and an overdose is blamed. But rumors abound that he is poisoned. Immediately, the viewer thinks, well, this is the case that Mr. Rock N Roll Detective, Ford Fairlane, will begin with. Wrong! Ford then goes to a club called Greed where he has obviously slept with just about every woman in there. His purpose for going there? To find the jerk, Sam the Sleazebag, who has been threatening Josie and the Pussycats. He finds him and then takes care of him, scaring him so bad that he will probably never bother another women band again. Then it switches again to Ford's DJ friend, Johnny Crunch, who asks Ford to find a woman named Zuzu Petals, whose relationship to Johnny is never fully established. Now it seems the story will begin. Not really. Ford is then offered two more cases: to find the Kid's father and Coleen Sutton 's case where she wants Ford to find Zuzu Petals. She offers Ford a lot of money and he decides to take the case. About this time, Ford starts trying to tie all of the events at the beginning of the movie together and he comes across. Everything starts to pick up after Ford meets Zuzu Petals at Bobby Black's funeral.
Afterwards a pretty decent adventure unfolds laced with Clay's usual "colorful" language. Would I recommend this movie? It depends on what kind of mood you're in. It's good, but nothing I would watch once a day.
I give this movie a rating of: 5
5=Although there are some laughs and adventure, I would only watch this one once in a while.
