Death doesn't take no for an answer. Alex Browning is about to have the trip of his life along with his friends and classmates. They are going to Paris, France on a school trip with the French class. One problem though: Alex has been having nightmares about the plane ride. He starts to see omens that something bad is going to happen, the word 'terminal' stands out at him at the airport before they leave, his boarding time is the same as his birthdate 9:25 and 9/25, and he hears a John Denver song on the radio while he is in the bathroom. He remembers that John Denver died on a plane crash. He boards the plane and falls asleep. He has a vision of the plane blowing up and of himself burning to death. When he wakes up, he discovers things are happening just as they had in his dream and he starts to freak out. He gets into a fight with Carter Horton and he and a bunch of other people, Mr. Munau, the French teacher, Ms. Lewton, Terry Chaney, and Billy all get thrown off the plane. Clear Rivers, a fellow student, believes it when she hears Alex say he thinks the plane is going to blow up and exits the plane also. Tod Wagner, Alex's best friend wants to go to his friend and his brother George tells him to go check on Alex, so he does. Mr. Munau is allowed to get back on the plane with the students and the plane takes off just as Carter and Alex begin to fight again and security grabs them. However, everyone is thrown to the floor when the glass in the lobby explodes from the force of their plane exploding, just like Alex had envisioned.
For a while, everyone is mad and Alex and blames him somehow, it seems. Clear is the one student that thanks Alex and listens to what he has to say. He, Clear, Billy, Tod, Carter, and Terry were all part of a design, death's design. Is it possible to cheat death? Or do any of them really have a chance?
"Final Destination" is a very intense and chilling film as Alex discovers the truth: they all should have died in the crash. I can't really choose a favorite scene from this movie because the whole film was excellent. Everything was well done and nothing looked really hokey like some semi-horror pictures do. The only thing that really did not make sense is that even after it was proved that Alex has nothing to do with the accident, everyone still seemed mad at him. That did not really seem very realistic to me. I would have been thanking him for saving my life instead of putting him down. This is also quite honestly the best film that Devon Sawa has made so far in his career. Alex is such a believable character who takes his role as vision-seer very seriously. The thrills were great even though it did have that one downfall, for that, I rate this movie: 9.
I rate this movie: 93/4
