Want to see a really killer website?
The movie begins with the murder of a man. But is it a murder? He follows a white-haired girl onto a subway track. When she drops her ball, he tries to save her and is hit by the oncoming subway. Mike, a police detective, arrives on the scene. The man that was hit was named Pollidori and they discovered that his eyes were bleeding prior to his death. Mike discovers that he was into the internet. He goes back to the police station and reviews the file on "The Doctor" a slippery serial killer. He is interrupted by the violent behavior of one Dieter Schrader, who was being detained and brought into custody. He and his partner Sykes go check out his apartment because he was bleeding out of his eyes when he was brought in. They find a dead girl in the tub who was also bleeding out of her eyes prior to her death. At first, they think they might have an outbreak of Ebola on their hands but then they find out it is not a disease after Dieter and his girlfriend's corpses are tested. Mike and Terry Houston, a woman from the department of health, find a camcorder and watch the footage Dieter had taken of him and his girlfriend. One part of the video shows the couple looking at something shocking on the internet together. Later in the day, Terry meets with the coroner about the two kids Dieter and his girlfriend. The coroner says they died of strokes with ocular hemmorhages. They had a fresh one while Terry was there and she is shocked to see her boss on the stretcher in the same condition as the kids. Mike and Terry go interview her boss's wife and she says he had gotten really paranoid lately. He had been obsessed with the internet and had complained that a little girl was watching him all of the time. Mike and Terry take his computer to see if they can figure out what was going on and what the connection to the internet has to do with all of these deaths. Mike obtains a friend of his, Denise, a data retrieval expert, to retrieve all the data off of the boss's computer. She views the feardotcom website and shortly after she starts hallucinating just like the others. By this time Mike has discovered a link between "The Doctor" and Pollidori. Pollidori believed that the internet could save energy and transfer it and feardotcom was the site to do it. Can Mike stop these murders?
Horrible, horrible, horrible. Those are the only words that come to mind when I think about this film. I watched it one time and it was horrible. I thought maybe I was not in the mood for it so I watched it again and it was just as horrible the second time around. To be a horror movie, there were no good special effects even though they were dealing with a computer. Mike and Terry fall in love in no time. How were they even attracted to each other? There was no time to even develop a friendship much less a love relationship. The worst part of all was that you really never found out just what this movie was all about. Did the website make people go insane? Did energy come out of the computer? Who did the killings? Was it the Doctor? Was it Jeannie, a victim of the Doctor's? Why did Mike have to die? Why was Terry so important? There are so many unanswered questions in this movie that the viewer is choked trying to ask them.
If you haven't seen this movie yet, do yourself a favor and skip the shelf that it is on.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I give this movie a 1
1= one of the most horrible movies I have ever seen. Would not recommend to anyone!
