Brayker, demon knight......

The film begins showing Frank Brayker being pursued by the Collector and the two cars crashing in a fiery blaze. Brayker notices the stars in his hand are lining up and it is getting close to time. He tries to steal a car and gets caught then goes to a hotel that used to be an old mission. He flashes cash and they give him a room. Meanwhile the police find the cars and the Collector walks out of the ashes unharmed. It cannot be explained but he wants the police to accompany him to find the antiquity that he says Brayker stole from him. After Irene at the hotel where Brayker gets a room calls the sheriff about the possible theft of the before car and she thinks Brayker is the suspect, they and the Collector go check it out. They find the key, the thing the Collector was after and he asks them to pour the blood out of it and put it in his case. They refuse when the Sheriff finds out that the cars he and Brayker were in were both reported as stolen. The Collector is angry and kills the Sheriff. Brayker then talks the deputy into releasing him and he burns the Collector with the key. It is then that the Collector reveals himself to everyone else as a demon and unleashes a curse on the land until which time he says Brayker will give him the key. Brayker refuses and the monsters that the Collector unleashes go after everyone in the hotel. Some will live, some will die. But above all, Brayker must defend the key and find a new defender of the key before he expires.

I admit, the plot probably sounds great. It is pretty good but parts of it are either just plain stupid or boring. I enjoy a little humor with my horror as everyone knows, but parts of this film are truly goofy. For example, one great scene of comedy is when the Collector first reveals himself as a demon and takes off his coat and cowboy hat. That part is hilarious. I usually like Thomas Hayden Church, but not really in this film. He is constantly saying something or wanting to do something totally stupid and not worthwhile. There are some special effects but nothing outstanding. I actually enjoyed the beginning with the Crypt Keeper more than this entire movie.

I rate this film: 5
